A dream coming true

There is something very special coming soon to the city of Huelva; a Kadampa Buddhist Centre. It will be a place dedicated to meditation and the development of inner peace, open to everyone.
Here, you will be able to attend weekly meditation classes, weekend courses, spiritual retreats, more advanced study programmes and beautiful prayer services dedicated to world peace.
Buddhist meditations and teachings are methods to improve our human nature and qualities by means of developing the mind. Happiness and suffering are mental states and so their main causes do not exist outside the mind. If we cultivate and maintain a peaceful mind, we will be naturally happy.
Our project aims to bring to Huelva an accessible space where we can find more authentic happiness, where we can develop the wisdom we need to deal with our daily problems, a tranquil environment where we can relax and share, a peaceful refuge in the middle of this ever more complicated modern world.
The promoter of this project is the Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre, a non-profit association, which has been organizing activities in the Province of Huelva for the last 10 years. It is part of the New Kadampa Tradition, a Mahayana Buddhist tradition founded by Venerable Gueshe Kelsang Gyatso en 1991 and which currently has 17 centres in Spain and more that 1100 centres and Buddhist groups worldwide.
The new centre will be located at no.8 Cala street, right in the city centre. Inside, there will be a beautiful meditation room which is separate from the other areas, a multifunctional section, a reception area, a bookshop selling Buddhist books and material related to meditation and a chill out corner where you can relax, read and have a coffee.
So that this project can be carried out, a fund-raising and donation campaign has been organised destined to cover the initial investment, calculated to be €10,000. This outlay will cover the costs of reforming the premises, furniture costs, council fees and taxes and other costs involved in the get up and running of the centre. Once opened, the project will finance itself with payments and contributions generated by the activities organised.

What is a Buddhism and Meditation centre like?

Here are some photos from centres which are serving as inspiration for the construction, layout and decoration of the Huelva centre.
